Some of the greatest gyms and academies I have visited over my time training BJJ are though with a strong family atmosphere. There are many benefits to training BJJ as a family and with your family, but I would like to talk about my top three.

First is the bonding time. Often times we don’t have a lot of time now days to spend with our immediate family. Between jobs, school, friends and training sometimes families end up spending the majority of time away from one another. Training together is Just one way you can spend more time together. This guarantees even if everyone is busy outside of the gym you will still have a few hours of time together..

Next is the support. Sometimes when only one family member is training the other members don’t necessarily understand the dedication it takes to be truly great. However, if everyone is training they all know what it’s like after a hard class or competition. The other members can be there for you and support your lifestyle and visa-versa.

This support can also be increased in competition times. We all know that parent or family member who is standing there screaming random things while their child is out competing. When parents also train they can better understand BJJ and what their children/family members should/can do during competitions.

These are just a few of the great benefits we can get training as a family. Me personally I can’t wait to have kids and train with them. Until next time..
