You probably have a serious passion for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but before you ever consider letting your child step onto the mat, there’s three big questions you need to ask your child:
1. Why do YOU train want to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Find out! What are they looking forward to most? What are they nervous about?
2. What is fun about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for YOU?
Do they like seeing the other kids or do they like the sport? Maybe they just like wearing the gi. You’ll never know if you don’t ask.
3. What do YOU want to hear from ME before, during and after YOUR practices/competitions?
Even if your child is really young, you can still ask them what they want from you. Ask them if they want you to tape matches or take pictures. Also, you can ask if they want you to give them advice after competitions!
